Lichen sclerosus


Overview

This harmless condition occurs primarily in girls who haven't started menstruating and in postmenopausal women. Lichen sclerosus is thought to be related to genetics, immune disorders, trauma, or infection.

Symptoms

Lichen sclerosus can cause discomfort, itching, and easy bruising or tearing of the skin.

Treatments

Treatment is usually topical corticosteroid ointments or creams used to reduce itching and complications.
