Overview
The cause of NAFLD is uncertain. Risk factors include obesity, gastric bypass surgery, high cholesterol, or type 2 diabetes.
Symptoms
Most people have no symptoms. Others may experience fatigue, pain, or weight loss. Sometimes, inflammation and scarring (cirrhosis) occur, causing liver failure or cancer.
Treatments
No standard treatment exists. Instead, doctors will treat the underlying condition, such as obesity.
