Prenatal Classes

Mosaic offers a series of four prenatal classes on Tuesday evenings. The first class of the series starts the first Tuesday of each month from 6 – 8 p.m. Cost is $10 per couple.

The classes are located at various conference rooms at Mosaic Life Care at St. Joseph - Medical Center, 5325 Faraon St., Entrance 1, St. Joseph, MO 64506. We will contact you with the specific location after you register.

The topics include:

  • Changes in late pregnancy
  • Process of labor and birth
  • Pain management options
  • Non-pharmacological comfort measures
  • Cesarean delivery
  • Variations that may occur during labor and birth
  • Role of coach in labor
  • Postpartum care
  • Infant care
  • Breastfeeding

Classes are led by an experienced registered nurse from Mosaic's Maternity team.

Payment may be made at the time of the class, and registration is required. Please choose the class series you plan to attend below.

Infant CPR is monthly, and each person must register to attend. The infant CPR course consists of an interactive CPR anytime course from the American Heart Association, followed by hands on practice in infant CPR and infant choking.

This class is quarterly and is designed for children older than three years of age. This class will help your child prepare for the arrival of a new baby and includes a tour of mom's hospital room and the nursery viewing windows. Your child must be accompanied by an adult to attend class.

Classes are Saturdays from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Cost is $5 per child.

Sibling Class

Spinning Babies® Parent Class

Spinning Babies® Parent Class is designed to help expectant parents prepare for a smoother, more comfortable pregnancy and birth experience. Participants will learn and practice simple daily activities, stretches, and positioning techniques to help with discomforts of pregnancy and promote optimal fetal positioning for birth. Consult with OB provider to qualify for class.

The cost of this class is $10 per couple, and the class time is from 5 – 8 p.m.

  • Birth Anatomy Overview
  • Daily Essential movements to improve range of motion
  • Spinning Babies® Three Balances™ to restore body's balance
  • Maternal positioning to maintain flexibility and function
  • Birth positions to create space for baby in the pelvis

Class is for pregnant mothers beyond the first trimester of pregnancy and their support person. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing as this class is active.
