The Impact of Art

The Art Experience transforms the hospital environment by enhancing the health-care experience and encouraging physical and emotional well-being.

The idea of art as a transformative and healing experience in hospitals has proven to be very successful. Programs like this have been gaining popularity over the years, and today, many art-in-hospitals programs have blossomed into extensive networks of artists, art organizations and hospitals.

According to widely accepted research, the art-health initiative within the health-care environment was shown to:

  • Improve symptoms in patients such as a shorter length of hospital stay, decreased use of pain medication and lower blood pressure.
  • Increase satisfaction with the health-care environment for patients, family and caregivers.
