Don't blame pizza, fries or dirt for acne

Contrary to popular belief, foods don't have much effect on acne. Those embarrassing little blemishes actually occur when your hair follicles become plugged with oil, dead skin cells and sometimes bacteria. To zap zits, wash problem areas with a gentle cleanser, and apply an over-the-counter lotion that contains benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. Don't pick or squeeze blemishes. This can cause infection or scarring.
