Overview

Gastroenteritis is an inflammation of the stomach and intestines that can cause watery diarrhea, nausea and vomiting. Gastroenteritis is often called the "stomach flu." Common causes are:

• Food or water contaminated by bacteria or parasites.
• Side effect from medicines.
