The Mediterranean diet blends healthy eating with the traditional flavors and cooking methods of people in the Mediterranean region. The foods in the diet are familiar. Meals tend to be rich in vegetables and fruits. Fish, chicken and lean meats can be a part of the diet. Extra virgin olive oil is the main fat.
