Cellulitis

Overview

Cellulitis is a common and potentially serious skin infection caused by bacteria. The bacteria enter through a break in the skin.

Symptoms

Affected skin appears swollen and red and may be hot and tender. It may spread rapidly.

Treatments

Without treatment with an antibiotic, cellulitis can be life-threatening.
