When to make a doctor’s appointment

Make an appointment to see a doctor if:

  • There are changes in baby's condition
  • Doctor requests follow-up to recheck baby's health

When to seek immediate medical care

See a doctor immediately if:

  • Jaundice is getting worse, not better
  • Baby is listless or hard to awaken
  • Baby has high-pitched cry or is crying inconsolably
  • Baby's body is stiff or arched like a bow
  • Home delivery and baby has yellow tint to skin or eyes
