Overview

Vitamin B-12 deficiency is a lack of healthy red blood cells (anemia) caused by reduced vitamin B-12. The nervous system also may be affected. Diet or certain medical conditions may be the cause.

Symptoms

Fatigue, breathlessness, numbness, poor balance, and memory trouble are symptoms.

Treatments

Treatment includes dietary changes, B-12 shots, or supplements.
