AI-powered coronary plaque analysis is now available at Mosaic Life Care, bringing advanced cardiac prevention to the region.
Most heart attacks happen when unstable, high-risk plaque suddenly ruptures and blocks a coronary artery. To identify patients at risk of heart attacks and prevent cardiac events, Mosaic offers plaque analysis, a non-invasive test that gives you and your provider a clear picture of your heart health. This advancement represents a significant step forward in cardiovascular care, setting up a new standard for heart health in the region.
What Is Plaque Analysis?

Plaque analysis uses advanced AI technology to measure both the amount and type of plaque in your coronary arteries.
This personalized insight helps you and your provider to:
- Understand your risk of a heart attack
- Identify coronary artery disease before symptoms appear, enabling earlier intervention and reducing the risk of serious cardiac events
- Make informed decisions about your care
Key Advantages
- Proactive testing to detect disease at its earliest stages
- Superior accuracy for deeper insights into cardiovascular health
- Regional innovation as Mosaic is the first hospital in Missouri to offer this breakthrough technology
How Does it Work?
Plaque analysis is noninvasive and performed after a coronary CT angiogram (CCTA). No additional testing is needed on the patient after a CCTA. The same images obtained during the CCTA are used to assess the plaque burden and types of plaque including high risk plaque. Plaque analysis is clinically proven to align with invasive tests such as intravascular ultrasound.
Why It Matters?
Heart scores show the amount of calcified plaque but cannot identify high or low risk plaque and soft plaque. Plaque analysis goes further by identifying both calcified (lower risk) and non-calcified (higher risk) plaque, including soft plaque linked to cardiac events.
The Power of AI
AI supports our coronary plaque analysis by enhancing precision and efficiency, but it never replaces expert judgment. Every assessment is reviewed and validated by experienced clinicians to ensure the highest standard of care.
