When to make a doctor’s appointment

See a doctor if:

  • Unintended weight loss
  • Depressed, drug or alcohol abuse, or an eating disorder
  • Occurs after new medication

Description

Not feeling hungry nor wanting to eat.

Self-care

Eat foods high in protein and calories. Eat several small meals a day. Drink plenty of fluids. Be as active as possible to increase appetite.

When to make a doctor's appointment

See a healthcare professional if:

  • Causes weight loss without trying.
  • Happens with depression, anxiety, fear of eating, illicit drug use or alcohol overuse, or an eating disorder.
  • Happens after starting a new medicine.
  • Lasts more than a few weeks.
