Somnolence
When to make a doctor’s appointment
Make an appointment to see a doctor if:
- Persistent
- Accompanied by nighttime snoring or pauses in breathing, especially in someone overweight
- Interferes with work or relationships
- Unable to complete daily tasks
- Lasting sadness or feeling down
Self-care
Get enough sleep, and try to keep a regular sleep schedule. Regular exercise and avoiding caffeine in the evening also may help.
When to seek immediate medical care
See a doctor immediately if:
- Chest pain, a racing heart, or shortness of breath
- Abnormal bleeding
- Feeling faint
- Severe pain
