Complications

If not treated promptly, malignant hyperthermia can result in major complications, such as:

• Muscle injury that breaks down muscle tissue and releases contents into the blood (rhabdomyolysis)
• Kidney damage or failure
• Problems with clotting and bleeding
• Death
